Abstract

The effect of additional heat treatment at elevated temperatures on the physicomechanical characteristics of unidirectional epoxy organoplastics has been studied. It has been shown that long exposure (24 h) at temperatures of 120 and 180°C leads to a significant decrease in crack resistance, as well as in the bending and shear characteristics of the composites under study. Infrared spectroscopy has revealed a tendency towards the formation of carbonyl groups after holding at 120°C. Possible reasons for the observed changes are discussed.
