awareness of Rebillard’s volume, which was published by the same press the previous year, though in a different series. Even so, with their up-to-date bibliographies, lucid translations, and inclusive approach to late antique passiones, these books should find their place side-byside on the shelves of scholars of early church history and will especially interest those who work on the cult of the saints, early medieval pilgrimage, and the city of Rome. Unfortunately, the price of these hardcover editions prevents their adoption in the classroom. One hopes that Oxford University Press will remedy this problem in the near future by printing soft-cover editions for the use of students, who stand to benefit the most from the rewarding efforts of Rebillard’s and Lapidge’s complimentary translation projects.
