The presence of the so-called lectio falsa et emendata, the coalescence of an erroneous reading and its emendation, has long been recognised in the Apuleian section of the manuscript Laurentianus 68.2 (saec. XI). This error typology has been successfully analysed with regards to the Apologia and the Metamorphoses and has been ascribed in all probability to the systematic misunderstanding of the corrections made by a late antique owner of Apuleius’ works, Sallustius. The Florida still lacks a wide treatment in this sense: this is mainly due to the absence of subscriptiones by Sallustius, but, on closer inspection, we can discover a small set of corrections not properly understood by later scribes.

Lectiones falsae et emendatae in Apuleius' Florida?
