According to the current state of knowledge, Vergil’s Eclogue 4 features two acrostics: one Latin and one ‘Greek’. The former one (CACATA, lines 47‒52) has been known for a long time, the latter – recently discovered by Leah Kronenberg – spells the word DE-CA-TE. The author convincingly demonstrates the purposefulness of this acrostic, which – given the Sibylline theme of the poem – seems very likely:
