Abstract Transgender individuals are disproportionately impacted by negative mental and physical health outcomes, including increased suicide risk. The gender minority stress theory proposes a potential pathway to suicide risk through distal and proximal stressors. However, little research has examined how resiliency impacts this relationship. The present study explored the moderating role of resiliency in the relationship between stressors, trauma exposure, and suicide risk. Stressors and trauma exposure were significantly associated with suicide risk, but community resilience was not found to moderate this relationship. The clinical implications of these findings are discussed in depth.
