In this second issue of volume 12 of the Journal of LGBT Issues in Counseling, four pertinent empirical studies are included and briefly introduced here. The first manuscript is a quantitative study that explored the relationship among self-acceptance and parental satisfaction and efficacy in a sample of lesbian and gay parents. Based on this study’s findings, the authors suggested that parenting classes and counseling for lesbian and gay parents may increase parental skills and confidence. The second study used a content analysis to examine how counselors assess gender, sex, sexual and affectional orientation in intake paperwork. The third study, a qualitative investigation, incorporated grounded theory and situational analysis to explore how counselor educators integrate LGBTQ+ competencies into counselor training and professional work. The authors offer pragmatic strategies for how educators may include LGBTQ+ competencies into counselor preparation. The final empirical study that closes out this issue is a qualitative study that explored LGBT counseling students’ experiences of microaggressions in their respective counselor education programs. The authors present implications for counselor training that could remove barriers for LGBTQ+ counselors-in-training and assist counseling programs to be more inclusive. After reading the articles, do not forget that you can complete the Continuing Education (CE) questions at the end of this issue in order to earn CE credits. Finally, a special thank you to Carol Burns-Wortham, assistant to the editor, for her dedication and hard work.
