An approach to soil test in space applications using robotics

Space robotics defines the development of general purpose machines that are capable of surviving the rigor of the space environment and performing exploration, assembly, construction, maintenance, and servicing. This study provides an approach to on-board soil test which has the ability to perform analysis on the soil and provide immediate results to the user. It defines a method to save time and reduce the cost of soil testing. This approach defines a prototype which is used to perform on-board soil test by using the Fire Bird V robot and Arduino and communicate the results via Bluetooth. Various samples of soils were tested in order to classify soils based on moisture and temperature.
