On numerous occasions, they identify trends and follow them up with conclusions based on a vast data (for example in the chapter on ‘Technology for All’). Thus, the book is a ready compendium on elder policies and society. The reader may find clear conclusions such as: ‘a balanced diet, prevention of infectious diseases through vaccination, and limiting the exposure to pollutants during pregnancy constitute the basis of healthy ageing for the growing human being’ (p. 181). The last chapter by Alan Walker provides a concise summary of the research undertaken prior to the publication of the book. In conclusion, each of the reviewed books successfully accomplishes the goals set by its editor and makes a significant contribution to our understanding of tissues related to the aging of societies. Ageing, Ageism and the Law concerns elder rights, while The Future of Ageing in Europe investigates active aging.
