Emerging adulthood emerged as a distinct developmental period about 20 years ago, thanks to Arnett’s (2000) pivotal work. Since then, scholars have examined developmental tasks, opportunities, and challenges unique to this developmental period. Given that it has been 20 years since its conception, the study of emerging adulthood has matured as well and now is entering a phase analogous to the emerging adulthood developmental period. As with most emerging adults, the field has a strong foundation to build upon. The trajectory that the Emerging Adulthood (EA) journal takes will depend largely on the work of the editorial team, reviewers, and investigators who submit their work to the journal. I have put much thought into the editorial team to ensure this new phase of the journal is off to an outstanding start!
