Energy strategy pattern for climate responsive architecture: workflow in the early stages of design

Climate responsive design has been a topic of widespread concern and discussion over the past period of time. This paper integrates the thinking heuristic method based on energy strategy pattern with visualization digital technology in a new design framework. Describes an early stage workflow with energy-saving design and real-time analysis simulation. This method divides the real world into several nested energy levels and identifies the energy subsystems in the region. The matter information in the design boundary is translated into the corresponding energy boundary by descriptive language. A series of optimization objectives and multiple constraints are coupled in each energy strategy model. The heuristic rules implied in the pattern guide the designer to complete the decision-making process with the help of modelling, simulation and optimization tools. An office building in hot summer and warm winter area is used as an empirical case. Studies have shown that strategy patterns are more directional in multi-level energy responsive design than traditional design flows. A comprehensive design approach that combines analysis and quantitative metrics assessments not only provides the design team with more solutions, but also ensures consistency between the conceptual and performance objectives.
