ABSTRACT

In the early years of the State of Israel, formal and informal education systems were mobilised for the nation’s education. Sports associations were an appealing desired target for outreach activities to attract new members and were instrumental in the ideological struggle in Israel. The current article focuses on an example of the sport literature written for children, This is How I Grow Stronger, which was written by a senior activist in Hapoel Sports Association. The volume, which belongs to the mentoring genre, was intended to have a formative effect on young people’s worldviews, and prepare them for coping capably with the challenges of their fledgling society.
