This text is filled with imagery bringing the themes discussed to the reader in a creative and visceral way. Who should read this book? While reading I found myself oscillating between a diversity of perspectives, arguments and theories, my mind filled with provocative images; I also had an opportunity to stand in someone else’s shoes, to gain insight into their experiences. I believe that this book is a thought-provoking resource for academics, scholars and educators of the humanities and will resonate especially with practitioners and academics in the performing arts. Most of all I recommend this book to those who contemplate and participate in the increasingly crucial global discussions relating to migrancy; the traumas experienced; the acts of violence against, and processes of tolerance and acceptance of, migrants and refugees; the questions that such acts pose about our humanity; and the power and responsibility of theatre when engaging with this context.
