Abstract The contribution of digital tools in heritage documenting has significantly increased and stimulated the development and implementation of many techniques and software. Indeed, Laser scanning and advances in imaging are democratizing access to data by improving the ability to share and interpret heritage information over the world. 3D reconstruction remains the approach that currently offers the best compromises, the best protection against loss and/or oblivion. While laser scanning proved its acquisition accuracy, it faces significant issues related to data processing. This paper presents a 3D reconstruction process based on prior knowledge whose digital interpretation may create new tools to structure the acquired data. The implementation of these tools within a parametric environment would support three-dimensional interactive representations with greater reliability and future reuse. Away from being solely a case study, the example explain our process meant to be generalizable, generating models from a minimum of data avoiding the case-by-case basis.
