This issue commemorates the beginning of our eleventh year of publication. I express my gratitude to my companions who have found their ways intersected with Comparative and Continental Philosophy. I offer my deep thanks to Jason M. Wirth and Michael Schwartz, my esteemed co-founders of this journal, who are more than just collaborators; they are dear friends who have changed the countenance of philosophy through our many collaborations together and with others. And to Harriette Grissom, who has made the prose of our authors, and especially my own, flow more easily and elegantly, I am most grateful. From the beginning, sometimes working gratis, she has always been there when needed and has always been valued and most appreciated. As we evolved, Andrew K. Whitehead emerged as an indispensable organizational force in the operations of Comparative and Continental Philosophy, and he carries the torch of our projects along with his own, bringing light into philosophy’s future. Later, Sarah Flavel joined our ranks bringing her valued skills to our operations as well. Our Advisory and Editorial Boards comprise some of the best and most interesting thinkers in Continental and Comparative Philosophy. The landscape of philosophy has changed only for the better because of them. The many anonymous reviewers are crucial to our success in producing a journal of the highest quality by way of its inclusivity and creativity – one that pushes the limits imposed on us by the old god of standardized philosophy, a god who casts a steady gaze that has excluded so many others, in spite of the differences among its own adherents. This old god, who remains relatively fixed in the region of the not-yet-gone, still reigns in dire determination, defying its own death until the very last; this god who proclaimed philosophy’s only origin was in Greece – the isolated place of Greece without any influence coming from distant lands such as India. The old god’s grip still has its hold on us. Despite philosophy’s many distinct differences, this god proclaimed Western philosophy as the only true philosophy, and proposed that all those other distant places of profound insight and thoughtful analyses were, at best, nothing but settings for what it would call the “wisdom traditions.” And these wisdom traditions were seen as devoid of any philosophical import, worthy only for religious considerations. Even Nietzsche, that great avatar and incarnate teacher of so many of us, avowed in his “New battles” in the Gay Science that...
