Welcome to Volume 41, Issue 4 of the Roeper Review. The social-emotional dimensions of giftedness have been receiving more attention in the field in recent years. The articles in this issue magnify the importance of these dimensions even more. In addition, our interviews with a leading scholar of giftedness and a prominent innovator in the academic publishing world enable us to borrow insights from a nation that has enjoyed considerable educational success, and from a conveyor of cutting-edge research and theory from scores of academic disciplines and professional fields. In an extremely large scale, international analysis, Jennifer Riedl Cross, Colin Vaughn, Sakhavat Mammadov, Tracy Cross, Mihyeon Kim, Colm O’Reilly, Frances Spielhagen, Maria Pereira Da Costa, and Barry Hymer discovered some important dimensions of social coping. Their article, A CrossCultural Study of the Social Experience of Giftedness, portrays the results of their exploration of social comparison, the tendency for gifted young people to hide their strong abilities, the need for strengthening empathic capacities, and other psychological dynamics. Their findings enrich the knowledge base in the field pertaining to the social-emotional dynamics of the gifted and talented. Toni Szymanski andMelissaWrenn extend the interest in the psychosocial aspects of giftedness into adulthood in their article, GrowingUpWith Intensity: Reflections on the Lived Experiences of Intense, Gifted Adults. Their inquiry provides insights that educators and mentors can use to facilitate more effective educational, social, and personal development over the long term. In their article, Academic Emotions Experienced by Academically High-Achieving Females Who Developed Disordered Eating, Jennifer Krafchek and Leonie Kronborg discover the nature of some strong emotional influences and the ways inwhich academic achievement, self-worth, stressful life events, and other phenomena can intertwine. In the analysis they derive some helpful advice for educators, counselors, psychologists, and researchers. Each issue of the Roeper Review also includes interviews revealing the thoughts, experiences, and motivations that influence the work of highly creative, accomplished professionals. One interview always focuses on a leading scholar in gifted education or a related field, and another highlights the work of an expert in a particular domain. The scholar featured in this issue is Kirsi Tirri, a very well-known investigator of giftedness who also is a key player in the development of Finland’s impressive educational success. Kirsi is an especially dynamic leader in the development of ethical awareness in the field. The domain-specific expert in this issue is Christie Henry, Director of Princeton University Press. In the turbulent 21st-century environment, human cognition, and ethical awareness can’t seem to keep up with the macroproblems and macro-opportunities generated by globalization and technological developments (see Ambrose & Sternberg, 2016a, 2016b) so we need magnification and dissemination of insights from the world’s most brilliant scholars more now than ever before. Fortunately, through her wise leadership Christie is contributing substantially to that magnification and dissemination by strengthening the workings of a revered academic publisher. Finally, to encourage interdisciplinary thinking I conclude the introduction to each issue of the Roeper Review with a brief discussion of a theoretical or research-based construct from an outside field. The interdisciplinary insight in this issue addresses some implications of the 21st-century technological revolution.

Toni Szymanski 和 MelissaWrenn 在他们的文章“GrowingUpWith Intensity: Reflections on the Lived Experiences of Intense, Gifted Adults 中,将天才的社会心理方面的兴趣扩展到成年期。
