ABSTRACT Black Panther (2018) uplifted and affirmed Blackness for many Black Americans and across the African diaspora; however, Black Panther's reimagining required a return to dark matter for bodies marginalized beyond race. This essay uses autopoetic and performative writing to unpack the moments of compulsory social identity expression that cloak non-normative narratives of existence as nonexistent, uninhabitable, and undesirable.

Wakanda
