ABSTRACT This article looks at conducting research outside of the researcher’s country of residence. It examines the insider/outsider relationship that the researcher encountered while conducting qualitative research for the first time with parents of children with learning disabilities over the age of 16 on the Mainland of Grenada. One of the aims of the research was to place people with Learning Disabilities back into the historical timeline of Grenada’s development post-colonisation.
