will embrace all of the authors’ interpretations (e.g., prestige hunting, the Numic Spread), most readers should appreciate the detail with which the data used to support such arguments are presented. The volume’s 87 tables are generally detailed and formatted such that researchers can draw upon them for their own studies. Already I have directed two graduate students – one with an interest in diachronic shifts in biface production and another in obsidian conveyance – to the volume in search of additional data with which to supplement their own samples. In both cases, the students were able to mine the monograph for relevant data with relative ease. I am happy to see the AMNH return some of its focus to recent research in the Great Basin. Prehistory of Nevada’s Northern Tier showcases the important role that research-oriented CRM work continues to play in the region. When that work is presented thoroughly and publicly, as it has been in this volume, everyone with an interest in Great Basin archaeology benefits.
