Dear Reader Welcome to our Winter issue. The articles in this edition are mostly research focussed and it is a pleasure to see our readers sharing their research endeavours and supporting the development of the professions. By the time that you are reading this issue an exciting meeting hosted by the University College London Embodied Psychotherapies meetings will have happened over two days in October 2019. The theme was ‘Music and Movement in Therapy’with speakers from dance movement psychotherapy, music therapy, body psychotherapy, psychiatry, neuropsychology, and child psychology. These interdisciplinary events stimulate us to think about our work, give us opportunities to share our work, and learn about the work of others. We have come a long way! This year Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre celebrates its 30th anniversary. One author of this editorial (Gill Westland) has seen how over the last 40 years dance movement psychotherapy and body psychotherapy have moved from the margins where they operated in silos to being sought out by university-based researchers because of the recognition of their clinical skills. We are entering the next phase of our professional development. Moving on now to our articles, the first article is titled ‘Dance movement psychotherapy for couples (DMP-C): systematic treatment guidelines based on a wide-ranging study’ from Einat Shuper-Engelhard, who is based in Israel. She reviews the results of a comprehensive qualitative research study in DMP-C, which addresses a number of factors in the couple relationship including synchrony in the non-verbal relationship, somatic mirroring, and kinaesthetic empathy. Based on the findings a systematic intervention protocol for through movement and dance has been developed. The second article is another research article ‘Extraversion in women with fibromyalgia as a predictor of better prognosis: An intervention model in dance movement therapy’ by Dita Federman, Ravit Maltz Schwartz, and Howard Amitral, again based in Israel. The study had fifty female participants. Twenty-five in the comparison group without fibromyalgia and twenty-five in the fibromyalgia group. The study found those with fibromyalgia showing a higher level of extraversion had a positive correlation with the ability to recognise the emotion of happiness and BODY, MOVEMENT AND DANCE IN PSYCHOTHERAPY 2019, VOL. 14, NO. 4, 201–203 https://doi.org/10.1080/17432979.2019.1682753

4,201–203 https://doi.org/10.1080/17432979.2019.1682753
