ABSTRACT Among Indigenous animic hunter-fisher-gatherers, material culture and certain places in the landscape can help build and sustain relationships essential for the well-being of living entities. Art is often a vehicle employed for establishing and maintaining the reciprocal dialogue between various human and non-human persons. Art can be endowed with the agency because it can influence living beings. This paper discusses how rock art could have participated in building and maintaining relationships among various persons by examining the role that rock art images, the materiality of places and certain rituals played in this process.
