ABSTRACT This article presents an exploratory study on a class reunion as a nostalgic tourism event. Based on a case study of a college class reunion, this study applied both qualitative and quantitative methods to investigate former classmates’ nostalgic stimuli for attending class reunions and attendees’ preferred nostalgic experiences. Four nostalgia-evoking stimuli are identified, namely, ‘old classmate friendship,’ ‘group identity and sense of “home”,’ ‘commemorative decennials,’ and ‘long time no see coupled with aging.’ In terms of preferred nostalgic activities, meeting with old classmates is found among the top favorites. Results of the study are discussed from the perspective of DMOs/CVBs about managerial implications. This study provided a conceptual foundation for future studies on class reunions.
