Abstract

This study aimed to describe mental health service utilization and examine associated factors among students in Vietnam. Data were collected at eight universities in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 2018 using an administered questionnaire. The total number of participants was 9,120 (95.1% response rate). Among students participating in our survey, 12.5% (95% CI: 10.9–14.1) with depression and/or anxiety symptoms used mental health service in the last 12 months. In the multivariable regression models, significant factors associated with mental health service utilization were marital status, types of housemate, mental health problems, physical activity, smoking status, and alcohol drinking. Our study made recommendations to stakeholders for improving mental health services utilization among students in Vietnam. These findings had important implications for future research on factors associated with mental health service utilization among university students.

这项研究旨在描述精神卫生服务的利用并研究越南学生中的相关因素。使用管理的问卷，于2018年在越南河内的八所大学收集了数据。参与者总数为9,120（95.1％的响应率）。在参加我们调查的学生中，有12.5％（95％CI：10.9-14.1）患有抑郁和/或焦虑症状，在过去12个月中使用了精神卫生服务。在多变量回归模型中，与心理健康服务利用相关的重要因素是婚姻状况，室友类型，心理健康问题，身体活动，吸烟状况和饮酒。我们的研究向利益相关者提出了建议，以改善越南学生的心理健康服务利用率。
