a resurgence of strikes or are they much better reported through social media than ever before? And even if there are more strikes, where do they actually lead? In the absence of an overarching political objective that large numbers of people could rally around, it seems that striking may yield only short-term benefits. For example, during the Arab Spring, strikes in that context had a clear narrative and observable outcomes (even if short-lived). But, is there such (or any) narrative to speak of at a global level? Afterall, strikes for whatever reason happen every day andwill undoubtedly continue so. In that respect, reading this useful volume leftme pondering if Lenin was right after all about the inadequate role of trade unions as agents of radical change, in the absence of a broader political and persuasive-for-the-many narrative.
