to recognize Sinclair as one who deserves to be honored and mourned as an individual, but that his death is part of a wider pattern of a settle understanding of Indigenous people as less deserving of life. The strong undercurrent and implicit conclusion of this text is that the independent risk factor in Brian Sinclair’s case, and the one that caused his death, was settler racism. Royalties from this book are directed to Ka Ni Kanichihk, a Winnipeg-based, Indigenous-run service organization that has advocated for rigorous investigation into Brian Sinclair’s case.
