ABSTRACT

Questions are an important component of many academic disciplines and serve as an integral microskill in the counseling process. Question-asking is also a part of deliberate creativity, the process by which a proactive stance is taken toward producing new and beneficial ideas from a problem or opportunity. Drawing from both counseling and non-counseling sources, the authors offer 12 ideas for counselors-in-training to consider in adding creative questioning to their counseling toolbox.
