Bandwidth enhancement and cross-polarization suppression of slot antenna

ABSTRACT

In this paper, a novel method is presented for bandwidth enhancement and cross-pol suppression of microstrip-fed slot antenna with circular and vertical wire loops. Two antenna topologies have exhibited 528 and 438 MHz −10 dB bandwidth in comparison with 73 MHz −10 dB bandwidth of reference slot antenna with poor cross-pol. To improve those cross-pol characteristics, we have designed another two antenna topologies, which produced 471 and 615 MHz −10 dB bandwidth in comparison with reference antenna. Cross-pol suppression is achieved by using vertical wire loops. The simulated results were verified with measured results and found excellent agreement.
