Cloud platforms have been relieving users from managing their own infrastructures and simplifying the task of application development. In recent years, containerized cloud platforms further accelerate the development process and provide a fine-grained billing model. For enterprise users, many challenges exist when migrating their applications to cloud platforms. The challenges include resource isolation, resource sharing, and usability. This article presents our approaches to securely and effectively share the already-shared cloud resources at IBM Chief Information Office. Several key approaches are discussed, such as cluster isolation, cluster automation, and identity and access management. We also collect various types of metrics as we are enabling the shared cloud. Our work shows great promise for migrating enterprise users and their data to the cloud.
