Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) layer of water molecules has been observed in crystalline hydrate (C10H18N)3Fe(CN)6·17H2O (1). The layer is generated by interconnection of cube-like clusters by two oxygen atoms. On the other hand, this layer can also be viewed as fuzing bowl-shaped units by sharing edges.
