We construct new finite semigroups in $\beta \mathbb{N}$, in particular, an $m$-element null semigroup for any $m⩾2$ and a 7-element semigroup generated by two idempotents. We also point out a connection of finite semigroups in $\beta \mathbb{N}$ with Ramsey theory. In particular, we deduce that for every $m⩾2$, there exists a partition $\{A_1,\dots ,A_m\}$ of $\mathbb{N}$ with the following property: for any finite partitions ${\mathcal{B}}_i$ of $A_i$, there exist $B_i\in {\mathcal{B}}_i$ and an infinite $X_i\subseteq B_i$ for each $i⩽m$ such that for every finite $F\subseteq {\bigcup }_{i=1}^m{X}_i$ with $|F|⩾2$, one has ${\sum }_{x\in F}x\in B_m$.
