Three-dimensional pillared-layer metal-organic framework based on single bifunctional organic ligand

Herein, by well-designing one bifunctional organic ligand as distinct bridging nodes, one new three-dimensional (3D) pillar-layer MOF, namely as Co3(IDCA)4 (IDCA = 1-H-indazole-5-carboxyle acid), has been synthesized and structurally characterized. The 3D Co3(IDCA)4 framework is composed of linear metal trimer and parazole-carboxyl group with one-dimensional (1D) tetragonal channel. Despite of absence of open metal sites as molecule binding positions, this 3D framework displays promising uptake capacity and separation ability for various hydrocarbon gas molecules.
