Impulse bit and ablation characteristics of double cylindrical pulsed plasma thruster

Previous studies have shown that the performance of coaxial pulsed plasma thrusters depends on the ratio of propellant surface area-to-cavity volume. In this work, a double cylindrical propellant was introduced to increase the operation ratio compared to coaxial propellants; the results demonstrated that the geometric parameter obtained by dividing the ratio by the hollow diameter greatly influences the impulse bit. Also, direct observations and mass shot measurements revealed a higher density of the ablation gas from the cylindrical part than from the hollow part.
