Twenty-five years ago, the European Journal of Industrial Relations (EJIR) bravely bucked a trend and established a field. In launching an IR journal after the rise of HRM, EJIR challenged the then spreading view of employment relations as individualized. And with its comparative and European focus, it established the until then rather marginal field of systematic, rigorous comparative and European industrial relations studies.
