When we took over as Editors in Chief of Criminology and Criminal Justice in 2015, our goal was to build on the work of our predecessor Professor Adam Crawford who worked with his superb editorial team to secure CCJ’s standing as one of the top Criminology journals in the UK. Our vision was to embolden this standing further by raising the impact of CCJ in scholarship, policy, practice and through citation; to promote the work of early career scholars; to nurture and publish international scholarship; to maintain the quality of theoretical and analytical work, and to embed a commitment to peer review that was both thorough and humane. The behind the scenes work we do, which one of our former Editors in Chief (Professor Sarah Armstrong) referred to as the ‘hidden emotional and free labour’, has been incredibly interesting, rewarding and a privilege. We are proud of our achievements, particularly in raising the journal’s impact factor to the highest it has ever been.
