I especially appreciate the important additional information related to the history of the two disciplines, Anthropology and Indology (Appadurai, Mehta, Parry and Trautmann), to recent developments in the ‘Sociology of India’ (Parry, Vajpeyi), and to their refreshing theoretical stimulation beyond the disciplinary compartments.
