The principle aim of this review is to prompt vascular researchers interested in vascular inflammation and oxidative stress to consider singlet molecular oxygen (1O2) as a potentially relevant contributor. A secondary goal is to propose novel treatment strategies to address haemodynamic complications associated with septic shock.
