Aseries of previously unreported N -aryl-7-hydroxy-2-imino-2 H -chromene-3-carboxamides were synthesized via the reaction of 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde with cyanoacetic acid arylamides in the presence of a catalyst. The structures of the obtained compounds were confirmed by spectroscopic techniques. Biological tests showed that some of these compounds exhibited antimicrobial activity.
