Random Magnetic Anisotropy in Amorphous Fe x Ni 80−x B 12 Si 8 Alloys with 2.4 ≤ x ≤ 16

Amorphous FexNi80−xB12Si8 alloys with 2.4 ≤ x ≤ 16 were fabricated using a melt spinning technique and their magnetic properties were investigated under high magnetic field up to 160 kOe, at different temperatures with x = 2.4, 8 and 16. The temperature dependence of the magnetization was found to follow a mean field model from which we have calculated the exchange constant A from the fits of the experimental results. Using the approach to the saturation magnetization law, some important parameters were determined, such as the local random anisotropy constant and the local correlation length of anisotropy. It is found that the Curie temperature TC, exchange energy, random local anisotropy constant KL and the ferromagnetic correlation Rf increase with increasing Fe concentration.
