In this chapter I review some of the knowledge about the oxygen isotope exchange between air O2, rocks, minerals, melts, including some technical products. The rise of free atmospheric molecular oxygen since the great oxygenation event at the Archean–Proterozoic boundary 2.3 Ga ago (Farquhar et al. 2000; Luo et al. 2016) was one of the major events of the Earth environment.
