With over 1bn active accounts per month (Clement, 2019), Instagram has become ‘an icon and avatar for understanding and mapping visual social media cultures’ (Leaver, Highfield, & Abidin, 2019, p. 1). Instagram: Visual social media cultures aims to address the ways in which Instagram acts as a channel for practices of visual communication. Equipped with compelling arguments, relevant examples and visual aids, the book is supported by integral research from key Instagram scholars as well as the authors themselves, thus acting as a repository for significant enquires into the platform and its uses.
