As far as the genre can take us, however, the introduction does a good job of setting out the more cohesive historiographical agenda. Overall, this volume is a welcome and thoughtful contribution to the field. Individual chapters make compelling arguments based on extensive research. The wide-ranging and historiographically-astute introduction makes a firm case for gendered imperial formations as a category for further analysis, and moreover convincingly argues for a global approach to comparative colonialisms. As such, this book will be a welcome tool for teaching and research alike.
