Comparative Education Review Guide to Searching for World Literature 2019
Comparative Education Review ( IF 2.0 ) Pub Date : 2019-11-01 , DOI: 10.1086/705466
Kathryn Anderson-Levitt

This guide is the third occasional essay that CER offers in lieu of its former annual bibliographies. As explained in prior guides (Anderson-Levitt 2015, 2017), the rapid growth of publications in the field, both in English and in other languages, has made it impossible to publish comprehensive bibliographies. Peter Eastonmade the last heroic attempt 4 years ago, at which point the bibliography of articles from the year 2015 had grown to over 4,000 entries (Easton 2016). In place of increasingly partial bibliographies, we offer instead a guide to help readers search the web on their own for recent publications in English and other languages. This essay again addresses two distinct, although overlapping, audiences. One is the set of scholars familiar with English-language journals from the United States and Britain who need to discover research published in other parts of the world and in other languages. The second is the set of readers seeking to become more familiar with resources published in English. This version of the guide pays particular attention to how to gain access to full text of articles behind paywalls. I will address journal articles first and then turn to the search for books, grey literature, and other resources.
