The COVID-19 Pandemic and Project Management Research

We continue our series of editorials to provide authors with guidance for future submissions to Project Management Journal® (PMJ). Earlier editorials in this series addressed the need for a theoretical contribution, requirements for reporting quantitative and qualitative studies, and guidelines for literature reviews. This editorial focuses on implications for research on projects, programs, and portfolios, which might have been brought about or accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective is to help potential authors find contemporary topics and phenomena to study that are relevant and timely and in line with the journal editors’ view of articles worthy of publication. Hence, we provide some suggestions on possible submissions to PMJ. This editorial is motivated by the myriad of initiatives and articles that address a wide range of anticipated changes during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. We were wondering how that might influence the realm of studies we publish in PMJ. To answer this question, we asked the editorial board members of PMJ for their input on:
