Abstract
A large number of people have lost a loved one due to COVID-19, or have been bereaved through other causes than COVID-19. Considering the circumstances of many COVID-19 deaths, we anticipate that persistent complex grief disorder (PCGD) rate will increase, and PCGD will become a major mental health problem in Iran. Provided that future investigations corroborate this prediction, it appears essential to anticipate an increased need for effective PCGD interventions. Mental health care providers should improve the accessibility of PCGD interventions in both face-to-face and online formats. A top priority should be given to culturally sensitive and evidence-based interventions.
