As Editors‐in‐Chief of Atmospheric Science Letters (ASL2), we just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has continued to make ASL2 a success in 2020. To all our Associate Editors, everyone who has reviewed a manuscript, anyone who has read an ASL2 paper, anyone who has cited an ASL2 paper and to all the support from the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) and Wiley, THANK YOU! We cannot do this without you all.

There's no doubt that this year has been a bit different. We held the first virtual ASL2 Board meeting in November. The meeting was very well attended by our Associate Editors from all over the world and we were grateful to be able to “meet” some of our new board members. At the meeting, we discussed a number of changes to ASL2 with the aim to improve transparency, publication speed and manuscript quality in the future.

Looking forward to the New Year, we aim to continue to improve ASL2's impact factor, working with RMetS and Wiley in a number of ways to increase visibility and readership. We are also going to be focusing on supporting Early Career Researchers more, ASL2 is perfect for early career submissions due to its short length requirements, and we aim to publish an Early Career Special Issue in the near future.

Despite everything going on, atmospheric science continues to be a thriving scientific area, and we continue to receive high‐quality, original and innovative manuscripts so all we can say is thank you.

We hope you have a lovely break over the holiday season and that you and your family stay safe. Here's to 2021!
