Abstract

The reactor dynamics of suspension polymerization of styrene has been studied in a specially designed unit controlled by a computer. It is found that the changes under control actions (measure of heating power and measure of stirrer shaft power) consistently describe the changes in the physical (relaxation) state of polymer–monomer particles. This phenomenon is proposed to be used to control the process.
