Determination of the Longitudinal Relaxation Time of a Flowing Liquid Using a Differential Nuclear Magnetic Spectrometer

Abstract

The necessity to measure the longitudinal and transverse relaxation times T1 and T2 simultaneously for the purpose of controlling the state of a flowing liquid was substantiated if flow rate q can vary by two orders of magnitude. A novel method of determining T1 was developed. A differential-type nuclear magnetic spectrometer was designed to employ this method, which allows measuring T1 in the whole range of flow rate q. Experimental results are also reported.
