Muga silk nanoparticles (MSNP) in the size range of 28–142 nm were synthesized via microwave-assisted radiolysis method. Interestingly, these nanoparticles acquire cuboidal shape and exhibit photoresponsive property, under white light illumination of power 56 mW/cm2 in a photo-electrochemical cell, when fabricated in MSNP/ZnO/ITO/PET flexible device structure. The device was found to be active under visible light illumination and gives photoresponsivity of 0.119 µA/W with the rise/decay time of 0.9/0.6 s, respectively. Such photoresponse of MSNP could serve as an optoelectric biomolecule, which would find its application for next-generation wearable and implantable optoelectronic devices.
