Analysis of the spatial arrangement of the drosophila retina has shown that the structure of cell layers can be represented by three-dimensional stack-like cell lattices. These lattices simulate the topology of cell layers and are a new object of histology. The proposed approach to studying these lattices is to construct a series of models of the spatial arrangement of tissues, to compare model sections to biological tissue sections, and to select the one with the most natural structure. This approach facilitates the reconstruction and opens the way for the development of computational three-dimensional histology.
