ABSTRACT
Blending polypropylene (PP) into acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) resin to improve its solvent resistance and reduce the water absorption rate. Then, polypropylene-graft-polystyrene (PP-g-PS) was prepared by using pre-irradiation and suspension-grafting technique to improve the compatibility of ABS/PP blends. The FTIR result demonstrated that PS was grafted onto PP successfully, and SEM showed that the interface of ABS/PP was improved owing to the existence of PP-g-PS. The solvent resistance and mechanical properties of ABS/PP were improved and water absorption rate was reduced after blending PP-g-PS.
