Abstract
Thermo-responsive fluorescent materials are promising candidates for the development of fluorescent thermometers, biological sensors and biomedicine. Since the interesting phenomenon of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) was first defined by Tang in 2001, it has provided a wonderful platform for development of efficient luminescent materials. Over the past decade, luminophors with AIE characteristics were incorporated into thermo-responsive polymers to construct smart polymers with temperature-dependent fluorescent behaviors. In this review, we summarized the working principles and related applications of AIE-active thermo-responsive polymers developed recently, mainly focusing on fluorescence intensity enhancement with either increasing or decreasing temperature.
